He was yet again overwhelmed by the State when the crew of the Malayalam flick Sudani From Nigeria announced that they would donate the entire cash prize from five awards that they had won at the recent State Film Awards towards fixing artificial limbs for the youngster.
This was announced by cinematographer and producer of the movie Shyju Khalid, fittingly, at the ongoing exhibition of photographer K.R. Sunil, who tracked the youngster down after many years and also did a newspaper report and documentary on him during the football world cup last year, at the Uru Art Harbour at Mattancherry on Thursday.
An ardent football fan who loved to play the beautiful game, Hareesh had tragically lost both his limbs in an accident during his first ever trip to Kerala to buy football jerseys and boots along with his truck driver father in 2011. He had remained admitted at a hospital in Thrissur for over three months then when he received the love and care of people from all walks of life. He was in oblivion since then before Sunil tracked him down after an almost three-year search during the football world cup last year. “The award money comes to around Rs 3 lakh and will go into around Rs 18 lakh needed for artificial limbs that will help him pursue his dream all over again,” Sunil said.
